Getting a Mortgage
For potential shared ownership purchasers looking to get a mortgage the following information is very important.
  • Having a minimum of a 10% personal deposit to put against your mortgage.
  • Up-to-date payments made on your credit cards, loans rent etc, so that your credit file is good. If you wish to check this you can go to and get a free report.
  • Having a well kept bank account, i.e. not going into an unauthorised overdraft.
  • Evidence of your income:- 3 months payslips if you are employed. 3 years certified accounts if you are self employed.
  • Evidence of your address:- utility bill dated within the last 3 months or a bank statement.
  • Evidence of your finances:- 3 months bank statements, which show your name and current address.
  • Evidence of debts:- most recent statement of credit card or loan details.

At the moment mortgage lenders are very specific about the above details so it is important that you are aware of the above to ensure your application is processed efficiently.
